Kids Plant Love in Upperlands

During a very successful Holiday Bible Club in Upperlands the children, who attended, tidied up a local park and planted out a flower bed.
Commenting upon the weeks activities, organiser Elizabeth Clark stated “This was a new venture for the parish and was well attended by the children. It was a fun week and we really felt the presence of God as we embarked upon the Holiday Bible Club”.
During the week the young people followed a programme where they learnt a memory verse every day, sang songs, heard stories, played games and made crafts. The older members of the group lifted litter, cleaned up broken glass, weeded and planted out a neglected flower bed.
The Rector of the parish, Rev. Isaac Hanna said “The week was a tremendous example of team work and was a real thrill to see different individual’s gifts and talents being used”. He then continued “In its own way this event demonstrates the Parishes’ vision of having a positive impact on the community worked out through the young people’s willingness to clean up the park and plant ‘Love’”.
The week would not have been successful without the dedication of all volunteers and kind donations from local businesses, Magherafelt District Council and Upperlands Community Development Group for the use of the Linen Hall. It is hoped that this event will become an annual event.
